A day in the life of… a Practice Nurse

Hello and welcome to an insight into our job.  There are 2 Practice Nurses with Drs Griffin, Adey & Dancy at Tarporley Health Centre.

Our day is always varied as we undertake health care checks and education of asthma, COPD, diabetes, healthy heart, well person checks as well as ear syringing, taking bloods (if necessary), ECG’s, immunisations, urinalysis and blood pressure monitoring.  As you can appreciate we need varying amounts of time allocated depending on the reason you need to see us.  Please let the receptionist now when booking your appointment, the reason you need to see us so they can ensure that your appointment time is adequate.

Around 12.30 pm we have time allocated to look at any pathology investigation results that we have asked for (blood and urine results).  During this period we also take phone calls from patients, return phone calls made to us by patients or contact patients to discuss test results if we need to pass on specific messages.  We would encourage you to remember to contact us 7-10 days after your blood test to find out the results.

Our days are usually very busy and just occasionally, due to unforeseen events during a consultation or an emergency, we run behind a little.  Please bear with us as we endeavour to give you all our very best attention.
